In getting caught between some decision you are to decide on wherein your heart doesn't seem to agree with your brain, human nature allow us to rely on either gut-feelings or faith. Usually without putting much thought into it or the total lack thereof, we ironically stave off the imminent regret that may come with it. That's where faith comes in. Though it may symbolically express hopping onto the next step abruptly, what may appear from that of my action having "jumped the gun" is actually a leap of faith. My son getting snatched by a big spider woke me up from such a bad dream this morning. What it meant kept me wondering and somehow worried. Lately, dreams seem to be foretelling something I should be concerned about. Just the other night, I dreamt of having a short (life) term left due to brain cancer. Brushing it off was rather manifested until a text message from my kid brother had me contemplate on a probable signification. Inadvertently, in his dream that same night, he had a long conversation with our late father who appeared poignant and emaciated apparently asking him to help me out among other things. In as much as I try to brush off the disturbing image, I can’t get over the heartbreaking scene of the 2-year old Chinese toddler getting run over twice then vulnerably ignored… Virally circulating, I suppose a substantial number has seen and knows what’s being referred to…  As human nature allows, we tend to be judgmental of people despite being clueless of what really transpired and how it could all the more be devastating for the concerned or involved persons of the regrettable incident. Yet as wrong and insensitive to be condemnatory, I can’t help but be critical of how careless any parent or guardian not to tend to a defenseless child along hazardous environs. I’d even refuse to blame it on accident under the usual few-seconds-difference for a (parental) relapse considering how long it took for the toddler to helplessly suffer and exceedingly go through agony even more… It was gravely neglectful. In some gathering early yesterday, my mother lost her 2 phones to a thief. Having been informed through a text message from my cousin, she was somehow disheartened as 1 of the 2 was a gift from me. I texted back to perk her up with the assurance that I’ll just buy her a new one since, notwithstanding the unfortunate incident, it’s just stuff… Before heading back home forlorn, she decided to drop-by in a nearby church. After which and to her surprise, an apologetic woman who explained to have stolen her celphones out of desperation returned it in exchange for P500. Paying for what you own may sound absurd but getting back the worth of the attached sentimental value for such an amount could be relatively cheap… A timely occurrence in a time opposing views on worldly possessions is maturely mounting between the family… What makes material belongings really valuable is the story behind its acquisition. Rather signifying it through a question given my reservation of a prediction in chorus with that earlier blog post’s subject , my game analyses of the 2011 NBA Finals series proved exact as the Dallas Mavericks won it in 6 games. Have you even thought of the number 5’s 4-lettered figure when spelled is the only (base ten) number-in-words that is as chronological as that? “One” and “two” are 3-letter words that do not sequentially tag-on their corresponding digits; and so are the others. Enunciation-wise, it’s the only number logically possible to be spelled with a consequential number of letters that would have no other connotation. If 4 would be spelled “FOR”, it could mean so many things and so would “SICKS” perhaps. How would you spell “9” with an 8-letter word; go figure – “do spell the math”. And “FIVE”, at the core ironically, is outwardly indicating how it has “overwhelmed” its preceding number “IV”. In view of that, the use of “5” for a symbolic figure makes sense… As odd as this odd number, this has just been “coincidentally” written within this 5th month. With the recent and successive nature-caused blows seemingly harking back at every part of the globe as its groans of resentment, Mother Earth appears to be collecting dues. Yesterday, in observance of the Earth Hour, support and participation of a majority were an hour of some energy-saving measure. Jointly, it’s a big contribution. Compared to the collective damage she has endured all throughout however, it’s small.  Controlled by The Most High, will she be as forgiving? In general, we have been preoccupied by our own business to the point of having neglected our responsibilities to care for our home in Mother Earth. Assuming to be accepting of our shortcomings, how are we to take the dues should her charging escalate? Declared as non-working holidays are the final days of the Holy Week. It is to commemorate how Our Savior manifested His being as such. Redeeming us all from our transgressions, the occasion to gratefully rejoice entreats us. Yet how are we to do that? How does the Lord want us to go about it? With the long weekend serving to be a respite from work exhaustion, quite a lot engage in worldly jubilation. Just when we were saved from our indiscretions, how ironic of us and revel still with the lack of good sense… It’s expected for us to do so through prayers and sacrifices; that’s as far as the church is concerned. What is a 3-day renunciation of earthly desires compared to a year as their dispute beckons us to be as dutiful. As if prayers aren’t implored throughout other days and devotedly working for family’s bread-and-butter most of the time isn’t reparation enough, the rationale to celebrate life is yet questioned. “OP” means “Out of Place” figuratively speaking (at least here among those who understand). It’s usually used referring to one who appears to be “OP” in the company of a group apparently in sync amidst some interest perhaps. Quite recently, we were displaced from our wellbeing due to the successive heavy pounding of two tropical storms. Oddly enough, in accordance with alphabetical order, the two typhoons were consecutively named Ondoy and Pepeng. As if they knew of their would-be unwelcome entry suiting their names “OP” and rather decided to ascertain their place with “Who’s OP now?!” With Ondoy’s Pushiness (OP) and the Onslaught of Pepeng (OP), they literally forced a vast number of people out of place.   There are a lot of lessons to be learned. However, I wouldn’t be too insensitive to even lecture about righteousness in the midst of distress. Sunday: Traffic was unusually heavy although likely with the influx of Baguio visitors. G o ing to mass was already like a sacred procession in itself. Although behind schedule, we almost made it to church. I fervently hope that our intention of attending mass based on our faith is strong enough to be acceptable in the eyes of Our Father. We’re about to enter when we were blocked and led out by policemen seemingly guarding the perimeter. With the idea that they were under direct order to secure the place for the safety of no less than the President, I repetitively sought for the elusive answer from one policeman if it was indeed because of who I thought it was, he reluctantly confirmed. Why drive parishioners away with the notion that they (or we) are possible threats if the reason for going to mass in the first place is supposed to be founded on faith. Faith that in God’s hand, one is not to worry… Faith that in God’s hand, everyone will be saved… Don’t they have faith? Doesn’t...
