Ophiuchus

Off-ih-you-cuss. That’s how it’s verbally pronounced. Just like anyone drawn into the whole brouhaha of the coming-into-picture of this 13th Zodiac sign, I also wondered of its pronunciation. I’m not much into horoscopes; it’s just that with the adjustment, or “progressing sign” should I say, I’m now an Ophiuchus. I used to be a Sagittarius. A progression? A good sign? Most of the people I’ve conversed with regarding the change of their signs aren’t so inclined into being their “new them”. I guess, with those who seemed to have relied too much on (say) marrying their spouses based on their “astrological compatibility” are now worried of “falling stars” or perhaps “seeing stars”. Who we are isn’t exactly the same as what we are. Just because you fall under the sign of Taurus doesn’t mean you possess a raging-like quality similar to that of a bull. While it’s quite fascinating to note that horoscopes most often than not are appealingly accurate, it serves to inspire rather than obli...

Beauty is in the Eyes of the (Be)holder

Regardless of how we see one thing, it’s bound to be viewed differently by others. That’s even in reference to others’ liking as compared to the inclination of those from it has a partial attachment. What if the matter at hand is pertaining to physical attributes of people? Needless to say, people have different tastes and inclined from that of different standards. Those with a soft spot for (say) the “assessed” person will probably be defensive of any criticism in contrast with how they positively consider the looks of that person they’ve kind of developed fondness for. Children for instance or babies for that matter, in most likely probability, they’ll be considered adorable by their own parents. Even with a decent disposition in line with accommodating the stark reality bequeathed among them or their children, it would still be hurtful for parents to hear (from other people) how “ugly” their children are. It may not be attributed directly but anything suggestive of an insensitive ...

AB(solutely)NORMAL

Fetching my mother from the grocery last Sunday, I’ve picked up ire as well. She was about to board the car when a cab driver wouldn’t allow her to comfortably and safely get in as he continued to unpleasantly drive towards her. As if that wasn’t enough, he rudely shouted at my mom saying she shouldn’t be boarding where we were – in a drop-off point where they too pick up their passengers. That ticked me off! I was behind the car as I just closed the compartment door right beside the cab driver. Having witnessed his arrogance, I approached and disdainfully cursed him. Pointing out his disrespectfulness seemingly admonishing him of how would it affect him if such is similarly done to her mother, I bullied him. I was somewhat harsh. The cab driver’s face suddenly changed into a terrified-pitiful look. Guilty, I knew I could have been more diplomatic… Spur of the moment rather got the better off me… If my bullying of him was witnessed by anyone, chances are, their sympathies will be ...

Grounded Stone

While walking along roads, standing still or just loitering somewhere, whether we're being observant with what's going on or simply oblivious of our surroundings, there are reasons for all that are moving about or that of what's stationed in its designated settings. The bird that just flew by, chancing upon your dream car perhaps, even those of our current state and including the stone on the ground, all have a purpose. Everything happen or exist for a reason. Did it ever occur to you that spending a few seconds of your time, let's say, picking up what seems to be a useless stone can actually make considerable changes on how your (or others') day will come to pass... If the stone lying on the ground has life and a mind of its own, it could have picked-up itself to avoid being stepped-on or simply ignored but it doesn't have that capacity. If we're going to relate ourselves to that stone, most of us would like to change one or a few things concerning ou...
