Allowance, Allow Twice At Low Price...

FB reminded me of my wife's birthday 2 days ago... Not that I have to be reminded of such special day... As a matter of fact, I already greeted her the night prior as soon as the clock struck out of Sept 1's last second while presenting my gift to her in all its "unwrapped" glory... I was reminded again yesterday as if urging me on to FB-post a birthday greeting however late. But then, the thing is that, I don't really FB-post a birthday greeting for someone I can actually greet personally... As to anything event-related, I usually post an acknowledgment instead or a testimonial, a recollection and the like; not for her directly but for others to serve as witnesses to what I'd rather express seemingly shouting it to the world... My wife then asked me how come I haven't greeted her on Facebook via any kind of posting... I was like "Huh?! Like I already greeted you last night..." Yes, that was totally "unsweet(ened)" or insensitive ...

Relative Status

Last year (Fathers’ Day) I ‘said’ about how being a father is a privilege regardless of a fitting paternity approach. For which possibly depending on a child’s distinct nature, one’s parenting style could be reciprocally integral for both father and child. Thus, the basis of “the best dad” standards personally depends on every child’s recognition of it. Some children may deem their father to be the epitome of what a father should be but to expect that of someone else’s father as the basis of such commitment shouldn’t be the case. The person/s with the most if not the only right to declare that would have to be the father’s own child/ren. My father was more than a hero to me. I may not be able to level-up to the kind of a father he was but applying my own parenting methodology that of which works well for my children comes off similarly sound for me. That brings me to this year’s Fathers’ Day celebration… As I woke up early yesterday (Fathers’ Day) morning, just when there was this ...

Reason Between

In as much as I try to brush off the disturbing image, I can’t get over the heartbreaking scene of the 2-year old Chinese toddler getting run over twice then vulnerably ignored… Virally circulating, I suppose a substantial number has seen and knows what’s being referred to…  As human nature allows, we tend to be judgmental of people despite being clueless of what really transpired and how it could all the more be devastating for the concerned or involved persons of the regrettable incident. Yet as wrong and insensitive to be condemnatory, I can’t help but be critical of how careless any parent or guardian not to tend to a defenseless child along hazardous environs. I’d even refuse to blame it on accident under the usual few-seconds-difference for a (parental) relapse considering how long it took for the toddler to helplessly suffer and exceedingly go through agony even more… It was gravely neglectful. As for the insensible and unkind passersby: SHAME ON ALL OF YOU! And f...

MATTERial Things

In some gathering early yesterday, my mother lost her 2 phones to a thief. Having been informed through a text message from my cousin, she was somehow disheartened as 1 of the 2 was a gift from me. I texted back to perk her up with the assurance that I’ll just buy her a new one since, notwithstanding the unfortunate incident, it’s just stuff… Before heading back home forlorn, she decided to drop-by in a nearby church. After which and to her surprise, an apologetic woman who explained to have stolen her celphones out of desperation returned it in exchange for P500. Paying for what you own may sound absurd but getting back the worth of the attached sentimental value for such an amount could be relatively cheap… A timely occurrence in a time opposing views on worldly possessions is maturely mounting between the family… What makes material belongings really valuable is the story behind its acquisition. What is so special about having these things is not even clo...

"Done Deal Undone"

Image
“Daaaaaaddyyyy, I’m dooooone!!” That’s my cue to washing off my son’s ass LOL! Still dependent of us, we have to be patient in cleaning up our children’s mess. It’s similarly a way to instill in them some sense of responsibility. It’s ironically an “inconvenient convenience” (if I may say) to inject values relevant to their upbringing. We somehow hope that such commitment will teach them to be as conscientious amidst some “inconvenience” in going about their activities without disregard for uprightness. If there was an “upright” thing from one father last night, it was his right hand’s upped middle finger before his kid. We were about to go through an intersection when a speeding black Honda Civic flickered it’s headlights to signal its intention to go ahead before we proceed. After braking to a halt, I defensively let them passed despite already having the advantage for a right of way. It stopped right in front of us for the young driver to flail a “dirty finger” on me. Goo...

Dady Loko

Looking for a XXXL size diaper for my 3-year old son, I’ve realized that he is already big to still be using a diaper. Right there I thought the non-existence of such size means the “no-kid-as-big-as-that-could-still-be-using-one” probability (thus why even produce what would not sell thought the manufacturer perhaps)… Before he totally outgrows his current XXL-size for a baby diaper, he needs to learn how to practically answer those kinds of nature call. Practical it would be indeed as it will spare me of further expenditure. Though his Mamy Poko brand for a diaper could be proven to be more practicable as it lasts longer, still, the convenient non-use of it is rather preferred. Don’t get me wrong with my choice on trying to be cost-effective. It’s just that there may be a more inexpensive brand that could be as useful but causes diaper rash. We’ve been prodding him on how to use his potty trainer instead but to no avail. I’ve also shown him how to “manly” pee but only elicits amu...

A lot of B--- S---!!

With a lot of assumed “ B ull S hit” happening among its core workforce within one department at work, the B oss and S ubordinates decided it was time to “ B reak their S ilence” with a B ull S ession. B rash S entiments were B oldly S hared. As of current manifestations, it was the B est S olution. Though, it’s really up to them how B ehavioral S cience will turn out and B e S ubstantiated for a B etter S ystem and help B uild S ustenance. On the other hand, in another section, some integrity has been smeared as “ B oiling S ecrets” were disclosed. Although the subject matter’s personal in nature, the confidence accorded to me as an acknowledged trusted co-employee was, all along, with denial of the truth… Though, not (even) B arely S urprised, I would have appreciated if the concerned person could have at least been B ravely S traightforward… Whereas along our end, one of our B oss is S ick however it led to B ad S uspicions that has been B luntly S peculated… It’s no longer ben...

When nothing means something

If you’ve noticed, I usually get to post an article once a week. As if corresponding with my blog’s title, I only get to ‘ switch on ’ whatever it is that I’d be expressing on a Sun-day. Though, that’s not the case. It’s just that Sunday happens to be my respite from a week’s work. On some occasions, I get to write during holidays or while I’m on vacation leave. The time usually allows me to gather enough ideas to write about given the rest of the week to have accumulated eventualities worth sharing. There are times when views as potential subject seem to overflow yet bear out to be too overwhelming to even be put into words. As of the moment, I don't know what I'll write about... Bound to write about something, you ponder on some insight worth conveying. As blankness fills my mind, I thought about the irony there as ‘blank’ can actually fill up something. There you go, I thought I’d write about ‘nothing’. Nothing that realistically counters its conventional...

Too Spicy

Image
Contrasting (too distinctive as a matter of fact) from the usual terms of endearment, I call my wife Spicy. It’s not as distinct as the reason behind it though. However like spice, aromatic or piquant, fragrant or pungent, she’s all that. With her nature seemingly seasoned with or containing spice, similarly, that’s her effect on me. She can be sweet; she can be bitter. Characteristically a preservative or as for seasoning, with a hint of basil or even curry, nevertheless, she adds flavor to my life’s cooking concoction. And while I’m on it and if it’s alright, I might as well add, she tastes good too! lol   Another thing, like normal (or abnormal) couples, we could be all over each other or at times, get into each others’ nerves. Spicy that she is, she could from time to time be too hot who needs some spanking. Not that naughty serving probably rationed in your minds. As fiery as some dish that you just want to spit it out once it stings your palate. Yes, while blandness from...

Pampered Innocence

Image
Having been asked to host an awarding ceremony for an event yesterday, notable realizations filled my thoughts. The occasion was with regard to babies as the stars of the moment. Conceivably, every parent , believe that their baby is a star. Yet, until when… Since the time sagacity served me right, I’ve reflected on some observations pertaining to parent-child relationship. While admirable are those who have shown unfailing parenting, on the contrary, it’s quite awkward to see parents seemingly harsh on their already-grown child. Whereas babies are so much cared for to the point of pampering them not j ust with the best ‘baby stuff’ but more than anything else, with invariable attention but they‘re rather dealt with differently once they’re ‘up-and-about’ and naturally manifes ting childlike-bothersome behavior. Reasonable indulgence in investing emotional attachment is acceptable but to apparently push that aside soon after one’s baby is a little older and understandably mischiev...
