Magalong’s Going Down...

Image
With the much publicized Senate Blue Ribbon Committee hearing on the “Ninja Cops” controversy, similarly beating-the-drum sounding-off a more reverberating plot were the death threats Mayor Magalong received... This article’s title could likely pertain to a possible threat by those who got implicated, as much as those whose name may get insinuated to be part of the anomaly arising from that of Magalong’s testimony. However, by that “going down” innuendo, we mean a different thing. Magalong is going down in Philippines’ political history as the bravest, toughest, no-nonsense public servant I’ve known (it’s not like we have a limited knowledge on how the political system works) . It’s not like he’s just up against local or “low profile” syndicates... He’s up against the “big guns” ...on a national (perhaps even international given the involved trade) level. From that perspective alone, he knew they’d rather silence him, yet he spoke for the silent majority... Focusing on the death th...

Magalong: Ang “Provensiya’no”

Image
If we are to analyze the very gist of the “FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano” story, it appertains to an underdog eventually proving his worth. It alludes to a newbie, underestimated to cope up and do well in the big city against the top guns. Much like how it was with Ret. Gen. Magalong prior to assuming his new role in the political arena. Thus, as for his status on the first few weeks as City Mayor, it can be surmised - “Proving siya ‘no...” Indeed (as much as ‘in deed’), he’s proving himself well so far . That brings us to the question, will he be able to sustain his level of no-nonsense approach on good governance? It has been raised, more so among rivals, detractors and doubters, that it’s just brought about by Magalong’s initial excitement and swaggering around. And for a ‘Ang Probinsyano-like’ storyline, the plot thickens by discrediting the protagonist with a critical devaluation of his good intentions... Let’s put it this way, no losing aspirant/contender with a bloated ego ha...

A lot of B--- S---!!

With a lot of assumed “ B ull S hit” happening among its core workforce within one department at work, the B oss and S ubordinates decided it was time to “ B reak their S ilence” with a B ull S ession. B rash S entiments were B oldly S hared. As of current manifestations, it was the B est S olution. Though, it’s really up to them how B ehavioral S cience will turn out and B e S ubstantiated for a B etter S ystem and help B uild S ustenance. On the other hand, in another section, some integrity has been smeared as “ B oiling S ecrets” were disclosed. Although the subject matter’s personal in nature, the confidence accorded to me as an acknowledged trusted co-employee was, all along, with denial of the truth… Though, not (even) B arely S urprised, I would have appreciated if the concerned person could have at least been B ravely S traightforward… Whereas along our end, one of our B oss is S ick however it led to B ad S uspicions that has been B luntly S peculated… It’s no longer ben...

Nothing Personal

It’s been a busy yet fruitful week. Aside from my key function among other commitments at work, I have the task of familiarizing employees with essential work ethics not just as one needs but as to how these values harmonize with the company principles. I’ve designed a training module that will hopefully address the ideal complementing roles between the company and its employees. In conveying the importance of such standards, I put significant emphasis on professionalism. Somehow, the best way to do that is to rather lead by example. In any work place, this will time and again be reasonably required or most likely be challenged. My wife once hypothetically asked me if I’d report perchance an anomaly involving her should we be both working in the same company. Suggesting that I would most likely do, she was in a way taken aback. Before she could even ask me why, I told her of the more complex implication that will rather affect us… If she did that in the first place, she should have ...
