Last year (Fathers’ Day) I ‘said’ about how being a father is a privilege regardless of a fitting paternity approach. For which possibly depending on a child’s distinct nature, one’s parenting style could be reciprocally integral for both father and child. Thus, the basis of “the best dad” standards personally depends on every child’s recognition of it. Some children may deem their father to be the epitome of what a father should be but to expect that of someone else’s father as the basis of such commitment shouldn’t be the case. The person/s with the most if not the only right to declare that would have to be the father’s own child/ren. My father was more than a hero to me. I may not be able to level-up to the kind of a father he was but applying my own parenting methodology that of which works well for my children comes off similarly sound for me. That brings me to this year’s Fathers’ Day celebration… As I woke up early yesterday (Fathers’ Day) morning, just when there was this ...

An Open Valentine’s Day Letter

Dear Joanne, Ane? Or would you prefer “Dear Ms. Fallarme”? Pardon the formality as calling you by what I’m used to would most likely spark off your sarcasm: “Don’t call me ‘Mommy’, I’m not your mother!” While in contrast, beginning this with “Dear Wifey” may well be spontaneous but would seem off. It’s after all a Valentine’s Day letter. Corny as it may sound, I think you rather want to be addressed as any of the more popular terms of endearment (you’re just in denial). Whereas “ Spicy ” as opposed to the usual “sweet” appellations and as I’ve considered you to be, directly aims to be (ironically) sweet; which isn’t the intention behind this. As a matter of fact, you don’t see me that way… or you simply find blandness in how I instinctively substantiate such “lovability”. Anyway, I similarly don’t intend to draw a “What the hell?!” reaction given that it’s not the normal “Awww” (with all the likely emoticons attached to it) kind for such a letter. Thus, this “o...

Marketing 143

Image
Marketing is a conscious effort to establish reciprocal advantage subsequent to a sustainable patronage. The awareness factor is a manifestation of one’s seriousness for such trade. The mutually beneficial aspect is rather aimed at expressing impartiality. Jointly put into effect, it initiates realization for growth. Academic as it may sound; one does not have to get into formal learning for marketing adeptness. Come to think of it, at an early age, we already make an effort to market ourselves if only to gain a want or a need; for instance, bargaining ensues between parent and child for (say) good school grades. Citing a more cognizant state, same thing transpires during courtship. A young man (marketer) would most probably “sell” himself (PR) to the girl (as his target market or for partnership) ; whereas girls, in a most likely circumstance, would actually put on a more mindful effort to look attractive (that’s visual merchandising) . Looking good for both parties is an eleme...

While You were Sleeping

A tête-à-tête about fidelity with my wife arouses the conversationalists in us. It sometimes boils down to an argument. Unfaithfulness isn’t an issue. However, when opposing viewpoints give justice to their disparity, it makes the initial tenderly asked question “Am I the only one for you?” ends in an irritating “Do you have another woman?” in between other nagging issues. Those questions, if defensively replied to, might extract different answers with “yes” and “no”, but it ironically means the same as far as consistency on the fact being squeezed out. Isn’t that “psychologically” nagging? As level-hea ded we become, the tension calls our attention – “How is this being helpful in our relationship?” Then other questions ensue (and sometimes) only for “round two” to take place. It’s repetitive. It’s tiresome. Things like this either adds up to one’s filled-to-the-brim emotions or it serves a lesson to be learned. Problems like this are usually resolved depending on your ...

When nothing means something

If you’ve noticed, I usually get to post an article once a week. As if corresponding with my blog’s title, I only get to ‘ switch on ’ whatever it is that I’d be expressing on a Sun-day. Though, that’s not the case. It’s just that Sunday happens to be my respite from a week’s work. On some occasions, I get to write during holidays or while I’m on vacation leave. The time usually allows me to gather enough ideas to write about given the rest of the week to have accumulated eventualities worth sharing. There are times when views as potential subject seem to overflow yet bear out to be too overwhelming to even be put into words. As of the moment, I don't know what I'll write about... Bound to write about something, you ponder on some insight worth conveying. As blankness fills my mind, I thought about the irony there as ‘blank’ can actually fill up something. There you go, I thought I’d write about ‘nothing’. Nothing that realistically counters its conventional...

UNDISPUTED

Wonder how or why men try to boost up their ego when in denial of a failure? May it be from a relationship, a certain match-up with that of the same ‘breed’ perhaps or any of those things that did not allow them to meet what they believe is expected of them, much more from that of their own presumption. Somehow, men find ways to justify such letdown. After a good boxing match-up for instance, assuming neither of the two pugilist kissed the canvass, the ‘defeated paw’ will claw back to glory by insisting that the decision should have been the other way around if it’s not because of too many objectionable reasons. While on the other hand, the victorious fighter, despite its swollen face would probably brag about not even having been bothered nor hurt by what he claims were ‘slight’ punches from, what the obvious thought, who roughly turned out to be such ‘a destructive force’ after all. Of course, there are more challenging ego-busting issues that knock men out of what for them are th...
