Turning 50: The Golden Retriever in Me

Image
Other than it’s one of my favorite breed of dogs, I’m retrieving gold this year as I turn “golden” ~ Five Zero! FIFTY!! The closest we got to having a Golden Retriever was having a Golden Dox. It’s a crossbreed between a Golden Retriever and a dachshund. He looked more like his dox (dachshund) father though. We named him Sandy. Sandy I’m like Sandy. He had the color (only the color though, not even the furry semblance) of a Golden Retriever, whereas for everything else, “dox” just about it. Sandy however was one strong dog who can actually pull something heavier than his own weight. Similarly, I’ve pulled and carried weighty setbacks as well as seemingly burdensome blessings-in-disguise. Not as obvious but Sandy seemed to have that strength of a big dog. I’ve carried “big dawgs and bigwigs” up their podiums. While it might even be attributable for that of their springtime or their golden era, I wasn’t formally conferred that “fair (golden)” level of recognition enough to be a “big dawg...

“46 is the new 16”

Image
46 is the new 16 Not sweet 16 though... It’s more like the middle age where one either feels like he can still keep up with the young ones or he knows how it is to be young once. And from each of those sentiments, it can likewise be sorted out into different classifications and the needed balance between impulse and forethought. Much like a cross between introspection and one’s thought-of public perception leading to either refutation or acceptance, it consumes our consciousness of what transpired out of our existence over the years. I’m 46 Similarly, I ponder on the what-ifs, the how-comes, the why-nots and even the when-will-it-bes... Yes, despite of the seeming assurance of that “things-you’re-thankful-for-couldn’t-have-happened-if-you-had-it-any-other-way” sort of assumption, I do have regrets. Nonetheless however, I also have aspirations still. These two account for my quintessence as how I’d put it, I guess... Conditional on someone else’s impression, I’m either a failure o...

Real News on Fake News

Image
Before today’s social media generation and among social media influencers, there was what we call then as “BI (Bad Influence)”. As it was and as anything worth opposing, there was likewise the opposite or the “good influence” but wasn’t even referred to as “GI”. Apparently, “BI” had more impact other than having had a louder ring to it corresponding with a more intriguing “sounding off” of its influential conquest that’s more likely to create a buzz and be heard for all its telltale details’ “juiciness”. “GI” seemed to have a softer (bo)ring to it... It’s the same thing with what’s going on along today’s way of influencing through social media. Rumor is what it was called then, fake news is what it’s “believed” (pun intended) to be “referred to” now. Yes, “referred to” as it’s likewise something that’s preferred from which they refer-to for anything believed to be a valid reference. The sad truth is that blabbermouths spread it for all their attention-seeking intent. Not much of...

BUT WHY? That's Why!

Image
You know how despite your keenness in exemplifying sense of responsibility that even encompassing circumstances could attest to such commitment, however, some people try to invalidate it just so to elude their own ineffectuality at the expense of your credibility? That sucks! What’s worse is when you can’t seem to defend yourself when that person happens to be superior in position. Yet even worst is when such authority is used to rather gain on subordinates as a means to show who is boss… BUT WHY? This is one common occurrence in work places of which there are values we could learn from as well as do something about it. As normal as it is, we could be as natural in expressing disgust. That would similarly be understandable. With all the right and with circumstantial substantiation to back your claim, you could elevate the concern and refute the other party’s contention if only to point out your side of the story or perhaps even clear your name. BUT WHY? Being vocal about it thoug...
