“Peterlandtrophy Epidemic”

“A contagious infliction that causes enlargement of the heart yet similarly, its rewarding fulfillment is as infectious”

Hotel Supreme’s Peter Ng has since then established a name synonymous with philanthropy. Such benevolence has transcended into various manifestations. For those in the know from Mr Ng’s not so distant pre-Hotel Supreme heydays, his humble beginnings as a taxi driver/operator is an inspiring story in itself and seemingly the principle behind Peter Ng’s disposition to rather be openhanded in the acknowledgement of those from a familiar “disadvantaged” situation he has been to...

Fast forward to today, he continues to embody that sense of commitment and social responsibility. There are the usual societal ethical framework among corporate organizations/entities as means to communicate positivity for all its brand’s worth. Yet at various junctures and in more ways than one, Peter Ng has also personified generosity sans the fanfare and gainful mileage. Simply believing in the nobility of such causes apparently “paying it forward” (giving back) being the primary objective, we’ve likewise been a recipient of his liberality as much as his positive outlook.

Little has been said about Peter Ng’s unselfishness and backing for the arts, he has supported artists and other undertakings pertaining to opportunities as second chances. For the recently concluded YMCA Design Museum, a fashion and industrial design upcycling competition for instance, other than sponsoring a substantial contribution, he also had a hand on the provision of seemingly discarded items (for upcycling) donated to the Baguio City Jail Female Dormitory. Thus, providing both livelihood and a sense of artistic worth among the female inmates...

“Social Responsibility is a Family Affair” (Peter Ng with wife, son and daughter-in-law)

A believer of developing potential and easing difficulties amidst inconveniences and insufficiencies, Peter Ng’s implicit manifestation of social conscience is not only exemplified through these expressive means as he has similarly adapted to the innovative breakthrough of modern times supporting as well the artistic growth of online talents. He occasionally opens his Hotel Supreme as venue for continuous learning, social media aptitude and virtual faculty to name a few.

Valuing education indeed, through his other endeavors and business functions, he has had school buildings built as donations if only to make-room not just for more students but also the importance of a sustainable and conducive learning experience likewise worthy of accommodating motivation for all the constructive ramifications.

These and more notable benefactions for the community, Peter Ng substantiates the ‘quest’ in ‘bequest’. It has become his altruistic pursuit to help in any way he knows how. In growing his businesses, he consequently “enlarges” his already big heart. Accordingly, our patronage of Hotel Supreme and his other businesses rubs-off such free-handed quest on us. A subtle way to put how we correspondingly evince such remarkable humanitarianism. And if this kind of philanthropy (unmindful of a fitting (or a fêting) acknowledgement ~ enlargement of the heart instead of “swelling of the head”) has a name worthy of ‘landing a trophy’ within our very essence as an appreciation and reciprocating recognition for Peter Ng’s selfless deed, it’s “Peterlandtrophy!”

Stop The Hate

And spread the love... I could have used “Spread The Love” for a title and the “stop the hate” for an onset instead... However, nowadays, a more intriguing issue leaning on negativity stirs a more engaging traction; when subject is abject. “Vilify and it goes viral; praise and it (apparently) goes to waste...” Also, I could have just merged the two as it should be; given that when you stop the hate, it should correspond with spreading the love. But then, what’s rampant along today’s society is how people would rather pay attention to other people’s “negative attributes” to conjure up prodding against those being maligned instead of focusing on (their) fine qualities that merit compliments. For some, they forego of the possibility of being labeled as “humble brags” which similarly get misinterpreted (probably out of envy) and turn into critical imputations from others. Thus, they turn into the opposite as critics instead and express something else against anyone/thing from

Rain, Rain, Go Away. Walang Pasok Anyway

“Walang pasok” might as well be for “wala ng (puma)pasok na pag-unawa” among us... Suspension of classes during this rainy/typhoon season here in Baguio and Benguet has been a constant issue. Both are under separate government units. Thus, its respective local government’s discretion on such weather-concerning decision is rather sought, apparently for all the “authority and liability” aspect’s worth. One major concern however is that, there seems to be a discrepancy on the two governing bodies’ jurisdictions along the inclement weather’s path (and radius), geographically within a common “area of responsibility” which raises these concerns: Baguio is in Benguet What if a student happens to be a resident of, say, La Trinidad but studies in Baguio or vice versa... Do we have to rely (every time) on their discretion? How about considerations leaning towards common sense which could affect one’s academic performance (isn’t that ironic) ... will it be taken against the stud

Uncles and Aunties of Baguio: Who We Are is Who We Were

While it’s true that it was patterned from, as well as inspired by the far more reaching “Titos and Titas of Manila” Facebook group which apparently has been conceptualized from its recently implied premise, “ Uncles and Aunties of Baguio “ on the other hand was initially thought of and created for the purpose of a more nonchalant acceptance given its commonplace exclusivity other than reliving the good old times as an acknowledgment of the difference from any other generation. Come to think of it, the connotation behind “Tito/Tita of (what place) ” as currently referred to doesn’t actually have “that sweet” forethought. It’s almost leaning towards “that sourness” caught between “nagmumurang kamatis” and being “may asim pa” ... Imagine (say) one in his 40s at a party among a bunch most likely half his age “leveling” with the young ones still yet courteously addressed as “Tito” (not to mention, that’s with ”po” and ”opo” )... However, not to appear defensive and at the same ti
